New Director of the Zwemer Center

Dr. Jerry Rankin has been named the Director of the Zwemer Center for Muslim Studies at Columbia International University. Rankin is the former president of the International Mission Board (IMB). He and his wife Bobbye served served for 23 years in Asia, initially as missionaries in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world.

Dr. Warren Larson, who has served as director of the Zwemer Center for Muslim Studies at CIU, will be retiring in June 2012.  His scholarly approach to Islamic Studies, combined with a passion to reach Muslims for Christ, has been an inspiration to many of our students.  Drawing on 23 years of missionary service in Pakistan, he has shared a wealth of practical knowledge on campus and around the world.  Over the years he has been interviewed by numerous news outlets seeking his comments on events in Muslim settings and on Christian-Muslim relations.  He was recently named Alumnus of the Year by his alma mater, the Peace River Bible Institute (PRBI) in Northern Canada.  After retirement Warren will continue serving the Zwemer Center and CIU through teaching, writing, and blogging.
