Update

Once upon a time , someone asked me if I would be happy working a job that was not at the university. Since my position at the university closed in 2020, I found myself doing exactly that— working in jobs not at the university. It has been a very difficult transition.  Recently, things shifted quickly and in unexpected ways. The short version is that I am leaving the hotel which I am currently working, having taken a position at another.  The longer version of the story is that I stopped by to see my good friend and former GM at his new hotel. While I was visiting with him, one of the owners came out and introduced himself and we got to talking. After a few minutes, he said he wanted me to meet his brother. “The arrow flies while you breathe The hours tick away, the cells tick away The Watchmaker has time up his sleeve The hours tick away, they tick away The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect So hard to earn, so easily burned . . .  The future disappears into memory With only a moment between Forever dwells in that moment Hope is what remains to be seen.” —————— “The Garden” by Rush.  Songwriters: Alex Lifeson / Geddy Lee / Neil Elwood Peart

On March 24, 1984, five students at Shermer High School report at 7:00 a.m. for an all-day detention: socially awkward Brian Johnson, volatile wrestler Andrew Clark, shy loner Allison Reynolds, popular snob Claire Standish, and rebellious delinquent John Bender.

A Day Out

Work is killing me right now. One person calls out and the whole schedule is destroyed. I’m still looking for a better job. Never know when I’m going to get rest and it’s weighing on me. Having to work night shift next four nights so wanted to get fresh air and sunshine before plunging into the nights. At least I get lots of reading done. Not a good environment for writing though. Took Critter to “The Big Library” downtown to play for a couple hours. Enjoy! Bottom “kids” floor of the library
