An Application for Dating My Daughter .  Well, I could have used this twice already, but at least I still have one more chance . . . Ah!  Here's a great question: " how much does a hurricane weigh ?"  The answer is astounding . . . but remember, this could not have come about through the work of a Creator--it happened by chance! "If the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Church in Galatia had been published in Christianity Today how would it be received by those who read that magazine? Well, what follows are the letters from readers in response to Paul’s inspired Epistle." Are you schizophonetic?  Spend seven minutes watching this fascinating presentation on the way noise may be affecting our mental health.  There may actually be another reason for wind, water and birds . . .

Admonition In A Lost And Tolerant World

A few years ago our street witnessing team was joined by a visitor. He wanted to go with us, to help spread the good news of Jesus to the lost and dying world, so we let him come along. We went down to our area and “got busy” talking to people, when I suddenly heard our guest (Bible in one hand, tracts in another) use the most foul string of four-letter words as he was talking to a couple of guys. I can’t even remember what I was doing at the time, but I do remember spinning around and was like, “Hey! Watch it, bro!” Needless to say, our witnessing opportunity was over right then and there. I was asked recently about what I would do if I saw someone doing something that was clearly wrong. The first thing that came to my mind was, “are they a Christian?” We then proceeded to talk about our position in Christ and the “one another’s” of scripture: we don’t confront people because we are better than them, but because of our position in Christ. We use the law to point out sin and lead t...

Supernova

Thinking about: Galatians 5:16, " Walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh ." Think for a moment of the vastness of space and all that exists in it. Consider for a moment that light travels 186,000 miles per second through the vastness. Our closest star is approximately 4 light-years away. If I've done my math right that means that light our sun is roughly 2,479,127,040,000,000 miles from our closest star. And there are objects far above and beyond that. God our great creator is outside of all that we call "Universe;" yet, when He indwells those in whom put their faith and trust in Him--where can He go? Can we contain God? He has no choice but to overflow. One is reminded us of the seed that has fallen between the slabs of paving and has grown and grown until the great concrete blocks are lifted, even broken by the power of the life contained within that seed. This is the triumph of God's Spirit over our flesh. When we overflow o...

socrates meets frigidaire

Galatians 6:1-5 What kind of person does it take to bear burdens? That depends on the size and/or kind of burden. Well then, what would it take for a large burden? Describe the person who could move, say, a refrigerator/freezer by himself. Well, he could take a dolly or hand truck and . . . By himself, I mean. With no tools. What kind of person could lift that burden? A rather large person, I would think. With broad shoulders, hands like bricks, arms like tree trunks, I suppose. He must have a broad chest and thick legs. His arms must be able to wrap around the burden, or at least his hands must get a good grip on it. What about a little girl? Could she bear the burden? Of course not! She is too small, too frail! A little girl is too delicate and could be injured! Consider this: what if the refrigerator was full? What would the burly man have to do to move his burden so as not to damage the contents? Lift carefully and slowly, I imagine. He would need to squat down, grasp ti...
