How NOT To Read The Bible

"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life." (John 5:39-40)

Within this wondrous volume lies
The mystery of mysteries;
Happiest they of human race
To whom their God has given grace
To read, to fear, to hope, to pray,
To lift the latch, to find the way;
And better had they neer been born
Who read to doubt, or read to scorn.

(Sir Walter Scott, "Explore The Book," Vol. 1, J. Sidlow Baxter, p.8.)
